Western United Development Centre extends Academy expansion

Western United Academy

Western United will take the next steps in the growth of its Academy program, introducing the WUFC Development Centre.

The WUFC Development Centre will serve as a specialised training support program that will gradually incorporate players aged 9-13 that aspire to be selected for the Western United Academy.

The program will be designed to help players maximise their potential on the pitch in a fun, engaging and educational environment.

Expressions of interest for the WUFC Development Centre 2023

The WUFC Development Centre will be overseen by current Western United Academy staff, allowing them to identify talented players that fit the mould of a Western United footballer and would be potential players for the Academy.

The first intake of the program will look at boys born in either 2010 or 2011, with opportunities for the Development Centre to be extended to girls and to other age groups in the near future.

Boys residing or playing in the West with an ambition to play in the Green and Black will have the opportunity to trial for Western United’s 2024 Under 14’s team.

Parents can fill out an expression of interest form on the Western United website to register their son for the first set of trials.

Initial trials for the first phase of the program will take place on Friday 7 April, giving players the chance to impress the Western United staff and earn a place in the squad.

Successful players will then take part in two days of training before playing matches on Wednesday 19 April against the South Australia U13 State Team.

The second part of the program will take place in June with more training sessions ahead of the squad’s participation in the Diamond League Tournament from Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July.

The total cost of the program will be $300. Each player selected for the program will receive a full Western United training kit, two tickets to the Isuzu UTE A-League Men fixture between United and Melbourne City on Saturday 22 April and specialised coaching and match play opportunities.

Expressions of interest close 9am on Monday 3 April. Complete the form and register your son for the chance to represent the Green and Black in the WUFC Development Centre.
