Western United has aligned with another education institution renowned for its impact in the west of Victoria with SEDA College joining as a Community School Partner.
SEDA has been a leader in industry-based education in the sports sector over a number of years, giving students the chance to harness their passion for their chosen sport and align with major sporting organisations.
Western United joins a prestigious list of clubs and leagues that are partnered with SEDA, including western neighbours Western Bulldogs, A-Leagues rivals Melbourne Victory, basketball’s Melbourne United as well as AFL Victoria and Cricket Australia.

Through this partnership, students will have the opportunity to join a Western United class with branding featuring on uniforms and opportunities for students to engage with the Club.
United will promote volunteer opportunities for students on matchdays as well as exclusive experiences for students and staff, including school visits and excursions to Ironbark Fields.
Western United General Manager Community Development & Partnerships Aylin Bagdadi said partnering with SEDA’s work in the community was a crucial next step in the Club’s community engagement vision.
“We have already been speaking and working with SEDA for some time and we are so pleased to become an official affiliated partner,” she said.
“SEDA have built such a fantastic model for senior secondary education in the field of sport and we are eager to help them unlock the potential of young girls and boys in the West.
“We are incredibly excited to work with the staff and the students at SEDA to open our doors and to continue to promote opportunities for young people to be involved with the Green and Black.”

Ben Heenan, Assistant Principal (Marketing & Partnerships) at SEDA College, said the opportunity for industry-based integration made this new partnership a promising one.
“The SEDA model places student interests at the forefront of their senior secondary education, integrating practical connections to industry,” he said.
“We are therefore very excited to partner with Western United so we can continue to expand that connection to local industry and the community.”
SEDA has joined Good News Lutheran College and Bacchus Marsh Grammar in becoming a Community School Partner with Western United this season.
