Western United going back where it began with Georgies friendly

Western United pre-season friendly against Caroline Springs George Cross

Western United will go back to where it all began with a friendly against Caroline Springs George Cross FC to mark the fifth anniversary of the Club’s first ever game.

The match will take place at City Vista on Thursday 22 August, five years to the day from the first time the Green and Black played an organised match.

Western United won 4-0 on that night with Valentino Yuel, Connor Pain, Dylan Pierias and Apostolos Stamatelopoulos creating history for the Club in 2019.

In a full circle moment now, Western United will return to its first spiritual home as it builds towards a full A-Leagues season at the forever home at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit.

The friendly will be open free of charge for fans to attend, giving an early opportunity to see John Aloisi’s new-look squad up close and mingle with the players after the game.

Kick-off is set for 7pm but the action will begin before the first whistle blows with activities and fan engagement in the forecourt area outside the ground.

More details will shared closer to the day but it’s all set to be a perfect night of pre-season action as the Green and Black cements history once again.

This game will continue a fantastic relationship between Western United and Caroline Springs George Cross with City Vista having played a pivotal role in the Club’s formative years.

Hosting training and matches across Isuzu UTE A-League Men, Liberty A-League Women and Academy squads, City Vista will always have a special connection with the Western United brand.

Aloisi’s side is in full swing in pre-season with a young, dynamic squad getting to work on the training track ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League season opener against Wellington Phoenix.

The first friendly of pre-season resulted in an 8-0 victory against St Albans Saints last week, and Aloisi and his staff will be eager for another positive hit out as the squad builds its fitness and sharpness for Round 1.

Get down to City Vista on Thursday 22 August as we mark history at Western United. It’s time to Bleed Green, become a member today and witness the new era in the West.
