Western United invites junior players and coaches from clubs in Melbourne’s west to participate in a pre-match celebration this Sunday afternoon in Geelong before the big game against the reigning A-League champions Sydney FC.
All junior players (Miniroos to U17s) are invited to participate in an ‘Olympic opening ceremony’ type walk around the perimeter of the pitch prior to United’s clash with Sydney FC at GMHBA Stadium.
Participants are required to wear their club gear and are encouraged to bring along their club banners and flags to showcase their club to help make it an unforgettable day.*
Each participating junior player and club coach who participates in the march will also receive a free ticket to the match.
This is a chance for the kids to say, “I was there from the beginning” with Western United FC.
The event will be accompanied by celebratory music, commentated by the ground announcer, displayed on the two big screens at the ground and broadcast live, at times, on Fox Sports on the day.
Timings details
All participants will be required at the stadium no later than 2:30 pm outside Gate 5 at GMHBA stadium. The parade will begin between 3:00 pm-3:15 pm with match tickets handed out on arrival.
*Note that FFA allows banners up to 1m x 1m and flag poles must be from plastic or wood and no greater than 1.5 meters in length.
If your club would like to be part of the parade, please contact the club’s Schools, Club and Community Manager, Pete Bradley with an estimated number of players and coaches that will attend (pete.bradley@wufc.com.au).
