Western United will kick greener goals in 2024 after entering into an exciting sustainability partnership with Unwanted FC.
The relationship will start off with Unwanted FC products being featured on Western United’s online shop for a two-week period, allowing Green and Black fans to extend the lives of their favourite classic kits.
Unwanted FC is a leading upcycling brand that reinvents sportswear into stylish new products, designed to look fashionable and promote a circular future.
The partnership will see Unwanted take on Western United garments from past seasons and upcycle them into a range of different products, including side bags and tote bags.
This furthers Western United’s commitment to creating a sustainable future and adds another way for the Club’s fans to wear the Green and Black colours with pride.
Western United Merchandise Manager Steph Angelos said linking up with Unwanted FC was further indication of the Club’s commitment to innovative and sustainable merchandise initiatives.
“The Club is thrilled to partner with Unwanted FC. Together, we’re upcycling our last season’s Kappa jerseys into stylish accessories, showcasing our commitment to eco-friendly practices,” she said.
“This collaboration not only reduces textile waste, but also supports a cause aligned with our Club values.
“Anticipating the transformation of the 2022/23 home and away jerseys into unique, fashionable pieces, this partnership underscores our ongoing efforts to redefine standards in the industry.”
Kevin Chan, Co-Founder of Unwanted FC, added:
“From playing and training kits to shorts and jackets, we’re able to help football clubs breathe new life into old season stock that may have traditionally been deemed unwanted.”
Western United fans are also encouraged to send in their own personalised items to Unwanted FC to create custom upcycled accessories.
Unwanted FC was founded in Australia in 2018 and set about giving unwanted football kits a second life, going on to work with iconic clubs and brands from all over the world.
Brothers Kevin and Keith Chan aim to ensure there is less waste ending up in landfill and hope to educate and challenge all people for a more sustainable future.
