Western United Liberty A-League Women Injury Update – March 2024

Chloe Logarzo Adriana Taranto Western United A-League Women

Western United can issue an injury update for its Liberty A-League Women squad heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.

Devastatingly, midfielder Adriana Taranto sustained an injury in training during the week with scans confirming a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.

Taranto has featured in all 39 of Western United’s matches since joining the Liberty A-League Women last season. The No.15 has enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 campaign with five goals and four assists.

Everyone at Western United will place their full support behind Adriana and wish her the very best as she prepares to undergo surgery and begin rehabilitation on the injury.

Alongside Taranto, co-captain Chloe Logarzo is expected to miss an extended period of football with a hip injury.

United’s No.6 has enjoyed a superb season on the pitch with a joint team-high nine goals for the campaign to go along with three assists.

While she is unavailable on matchday, Logarzo will remain an integral figure in the dressing room heading into the final stage of the season.

Logarzo’s availability for the Liberty A-League Finals Series, should Western United proceed, will be subject to her ongoing fitness and recovery.

Everyone at Western United wishes Logarzo the best in her recovery and looks forward to seeing her back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Raquel Deralas remains United’s only other long-term absentee and has recently added running and ball work to her rehabilitation program after undergoing back surgery.

In more positive news, Catherine Zimmerman and Aimee Medwin have both come through unscathed in their respective returns to matchplay. Zimmerman scored her first Western United goal at the weekend, while Medwin has started in consecutive matches.

The remainder of Western United’s Liberty A-League squad is fit for the campaign run-in with three games remaining in the regular season.
