Western United locked in for semi-final barn burner against Melbourne City

Western United A-League Men Semi-Final

Western United is all set for a blockbuster Isuzu UTE A-League Men Semi-Final tie against local rivals Melbourne City, kicking off with a home first leg on Friday 16 May at AAMI Park.

While United will once again be unable to play one of its rivals at home at Ironbark Fields, the Green and Black army will be gearing up to get behind the team in their numbers.

With the first whistle set for 7:35pm AEST, the tie will mark a rematch of the 2022 Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final where United stole the show to lift the Championship.

Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Monday 12 May for all Western United members before the general public sale opens at 1pm on Wednesday 13 May.

The second leg will follow suit on Saturday 24 May, also kicking off at 7:35pm with United hoping to book a landmark second appearance in an Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final.

The meeting also ensures that the Green and Black has come up against City in all three of its men’s finals appearances thus far after a semi-final clash in the inaugural season in 2020.

John Aloisi’s men booked their place in the final four last night with a stunning 3-2 win over Adelaide United in an historic Elimination Final at Ironbark Fields.

Tarneit came alive for the first-ever Isuzu UTE A-League finals match in Victoria staged outside of central Melbourne, with the Green and Black crowd driving the players towards the spectacular result.

Noah Botic added to the history of the occasion by becoming the youngest player to score an Isuzu UTE A-League finals hat-trick, and just the fifth overall in a dominant display.

Western United’s young guns shone bright again as they have done all season, and they will be raring to go in another huge match on Friday.

The journey is far from finished and we will need every member, every supporter to keep getting right behind our boys in green and help us push all the way.
