Western United played host to Werribee City FC in NPL 2 Victoria while the Junior Academy sides met various opposition away. The Calder United Senior sides had a bye over the weekend while the Juniors took on Heilberg United at home.
Western United NPL 2 Men’s Senior’s

Our NPL 2 Men’s Senior’s team achieved a remarkable five-nil victory over Werribee City FC over the weekend. Building on their previous win, the senior side aimed to secure another three points.
Oli Lavale set the tone early with a goal at the ten-minute mark, giving them the lead. However, the game took a twist as the side were reduced to ten men due to a straight red card, causing chaos among the players. Nonetheless, Max Bisetto added to the scoreline in the first half, making it 2-0 by the 45th minute.
In the second half, Khoder Kaddour found the back of the net at the 62nd minute, followed by another spectacular goal from Max Bisetto just five minutes later.
Our boys displayed determination in preventing the opposition from scoring, and Luke Vickery joined the ranks of goal scorers with a goal at the 77th minute. Overall, Diogo Ferreira’s squad demonstrated a fantastic effort in securing this victory.

Following a challenging encounter last week that ended in a 1-1 draw, the team was determined to secure all three points this weekend.
The match quickly ignited with excitement as Yani Nassis found the back of the net within the first four minutes, giving United the lead and generating a surge of enthusiasm among the players.
In the second half, Yani continued to shine, scoring two more goals at the 52nd and 68th minute marks, completing a well-deserved hat trick.
Despite their efforts, Werribee was unable to score, resulting in a final score of 3-0

Western United Junior Academy teams
Over the weekend, the Western United Junior Academy teams had matches on both Friday and Sunday. The U16 & U18 matches on Friday night unfortunately were postponed due to a lighting issue at the ground with new dates for these matches to be confirmed.
On Friday night, the under 14’s faced Dandenong City SC at Alcock Road Reserve. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to equalize, resulting in a 1-0 loss. In an exciting match, the under 15’s battled it out against Bentleigh Greens SC. Nahom Yohannes scored the first goal at the 19th minute and repeated his feat in the second half. Just two minutes after the first goal, Issachar Hailu found the back of net, both in the first and second half.
On Sunday, all teams were able to play and did so at different locations. The under 14’s kicked off the day with a 1-0 victory against Essendon Royals SC, with Lucas Germano scoring in the 26th minute. The match concluded with Western United securing the win with no further goals scored.
The under 15’s also faced Essendon Royals SC and emerged with a 1-0 victory. Issachar Hailu scored a minute before halftime, securing the only goal of the match in favour of Western United.
In a tough battle, the under 16’s drew with Essendon Royals SC, resulting in each team earning a point. Joseph Lettieri was the standout for Western United, finding the back of the net twice, first at the 47th minute and again eight minutes later.
The under 18’s had a fantastic win against Avondale Heights FC, finishing with a 3-0 scoreline. After an intense first half, Western United scored all three goals in the second, preventing any attempts from the opposition. Special recognition goes to the goal scorers, Kayo Deme and Hasani Lumu.

This past weekend, the Calder United Juniors hosted Heidelberg United FC at home, aiming to replicate their impressive performance from the previous week and secure a combined total of nine points.
The afternoon commenced with an intense match from the under 13’s. Heidelberg United managed to score one goal, hoping to equalize, but the team held strong, ultimately clinching a 2-1 victory.
In the under 15’s match, both teams battled fiercely but couldn’t find the back of the net, resulting in a scoreless draw and each team earning a point.
Unfortunately, the under 17’s faced a setback, conceding a goal and concluding the match with a 0-1 defeat.
