Western United set for football festival in the West for women’s opener

Western United fans

Western United fans will be able to enjoy a spectacular afternoon of football activities in the West when the Club hosts its first ever Liberty A-League Women fixture.

The Green and Black will take on Melbourne Victory at City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field on Saturday November 19, with the match kicking off at 3pm and the activities beginning at 2pm.

The atmosphere will build on the synthetic pitches at City Vista with a DJ pumping up the tunes and female tall footballers roving the grounds and engaging with families.

Young fans will be able to look the part for the match with special hair braiding and air brush tattoos allowing fans from the West to, literally, paint City Vista in Green and Black.

There will also be big bubbles and the WUFC football inflatables so fans can run around and have a kick before watching Matildas star Chloe Logarzo and American legend Jessica McDonald right before their eyes.

At a perfect, family friendly time in the afternoon, fans will also be well fed with a number of fantastic food options available on matchday.

As well as the regular canteen at the ground, there will also be a cevapi barbecue and a spit on offer so fans can enjoy an authentic, high-quality pre-game feed.

Then, all eyes will be onto the football pitch as the West witnesses history with the first match to be played by a professional women’s football team representing the area.

Mark Torcaso’s side will feature a number of young, local stars as well as experienced international talents and will go in search of a memorable first win.

Pre-season preparations have been well underway, with United defeating Victory 1-0 last weekend in its first friendly match.
