Western United is pleased to announce that goalkeeper Ryan Scott has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
Scott, who was contracted until the end of the season, will now remain at United until the end of the 2021/22 A-League season.
“Ryan has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived at the club. He’s shown great leadership, has a positive attitude and great work ethic,” Head Coach Mark Rudan said.
“We look forward to seeing Ryan improve and progress at our club.”
Scott joined the Green and Black in November last year, moving from NPL Victoria outfit Bentleigh Greens, where he was awarded man of the match in both the 2017 and 2019 NPL Victoria Grand Finals.
The 24-year-old made his A-League debut in Western United’s 5-1 victory away to Adelaide United in March this year, coming on for the injured Filip Kurto in the 12th minute.
“It was always our intention to provide another pathway for NPL players and Ryan has grabbed that opportunity with both hands through his hard work” Director of Football Steve Horvat added.
“Players need to understand the effort and commitment it takes to make it at this level and Ryan has done that and is a great example for others currently playing in the NPL. Talent alone is not enough.”
Scott said: “I am very excited to have extended my stay at Western United. I would like to thank the coaching staff and the club for this opportunity. The hard work continues and I am looking forward to success with Western United.”
Scott and Western United have resumed full training in preparation for their July 16 clash with Melbourne Victory.
