Western United will be giving young footballers and athletes the chance to hone their craft during the winter school holidays with the return of the skill school sessions.
After launching during the last school holidays in March, the programs are making a return in July for a holistic approach to developing the next generation of athletes, all held at Ironbark Fields.
The first session will be the WUFC Speed School on Monday 7 July with a second session on Tuesday 15 July, showcasing the blistering pace and athleticism of the young talents in the community.

This program is led by the expert Western United Academy high-performance staff, focusing on everything from running mechanics to explosive technique in order to develop speed and power.
The session is mixed with exercises on the pitch, speed testing and gym work to teach the youngsters all the fundamentals to speed running, something they can apply to a range of chosen sports – not just football.
Tuesday 8 July and Monday 14 July will focus on all things in the penalty area with the Finishing & Goalkeeping School.

Western United Academy coaches will touch on ball striking technique, timing in the box and movement in the final third to make sure every player can take something away from the session to add more goals to their game on the weekend.
On the other side, the young goalkeepers will be taught positioning cues, vital techniques and tips to enhance their shot stopping and their ability with their feet.
These sessions are open for boys and girls born from 2008 to 2014, not only Western United Academy or Development Centre players.
Register right away as spots will be limited, so make sure you don’t miss out on this chance for your young athlete to take their game and physical prowess to the next level.
