Caltex Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold today announced the 24 players who have been selected to represent Australia for the team’s fourth match on the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
Australia will play Jordan in Amman next Thursday (local time). The squad to play at the King Abdullah II Stadium features the return to national team action for Western United star Josh Risdon.
Risdon has been a key player for the green and black this season in his role as a right-sided wingback.
Respected defender Trent Sainsbury, experienced goalkeeper Adam Federici, as well as emerging Barnsley FC midfielder Kenny Dougall are also back in the squad, as are Scotland-based attacking duo Tom Rogic and Martin Boyle.
“Overall I am delighted with the strength and balance of the squad that we have selected to play Jordan next week,” said Arnold.
“We will have three training sessions together before the match, and with competition for places for every starting position I expect I will have to make some tough decisions.”
The Caltex Socceroos defeated Kuwait 3-0 (away) to kick-off their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ qualification campaign in September, before defeating Nepal 5-0 (home) and Chinese Taipei 7-1 (away) last month.
Australia’s match against Jordan will be broadcast live in Australia on FOX SPORTS, ABC TV, Kayo Sports, and via the My Football Live App, Live, Fast and Data Free for Telstra mobile customers.
