To our community of supporters on New Year’s Eve, thank you

Western United’s historic first calendar year as a Hyundai A-League club draws to a close later today.

And there is no doubt 2019 will go down in our history for many reasons.

It was a year the green and black played their first official A-League game, scored their first goal, played at home for the first time and, famously, won a Melbourne Derby against Victory.

So, as 2019 ticks over, Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis has a message of thanks for the entire green and black family of members, fans, sponsors and valued volunteers across the West.

“As a club for the community of the West, I’m very proud of what we have achieved in our first full year.

“The strides we’ve taken on the pitch – from the football department lead by head coach Mark Rudan tor our senior management team lead by Chairman Jason Sourasis and our hard-working staff across the club – is testament to the passion we have for our region and the people we represent.

“I’m also very proud of Western United’s members and active fans the Western Service Crew, as well as our community of volunteers. They have all come together to back our club and we are thankful that they have joined us on this journey.

“I’d also like to acknowledge our valued major sponsors Pro Build, Victoria University, and Kappa, as well as Wyndham City Council for their on-going support as we build our club each and every day.

“In 2020, together we are stronger, so go the Green and Black and we’ll see you this Friday night (Jan 3) at AAMI Park for our first game of the new year away to Melbourne City and for our first home game of 2020 at GMHBA Stadium on January 19.”
