12 months ago, Valentino Yuel was playing for Adelaide City in South Australia’s NPL.
Now, he’s making his mark on the professional game with the A-League’s newest side, Western United.
In his first four pre-season games with United, Yuel found the back of the net three times.
And he’s putting his form partly down to the quality of his teammates.
“The list of experience we have in the front third is amazing,” he told the Daily Football Show.
“I’m just looking forward to learning because there is so much information to learn from all the guys they’ve brought in.
“Even from the likes of Diamanti. As soon as they start talking to you, you listen, you absorb as much information as you can because you know for sure that these guys have been there, done that and are still doing it.
“Any information you get from them is valuable, so you take in as much as you can and try to add it to your game.”
Yuel is still adapting to the increased speed and intensity of the A-League, having crossed from NPL Victoria’s Bentleigh Greens in the off-season.
“It’s very fast. You try to adapt and try to pick up on things from all the players around you because the majority of them have played in the league for a long time.
“It’s a big opportunity for me to learn from them and to adjust to the speed and the quality of the players”
