J. Risdon
19 DefenderJosh Risdon became the first Australian to sign for Western United, joining from Western Sydney Wanderers just a year after making three starts at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Socceroo recorded seven assists in 23 games in the 2019/20 season and was equal second in the league behind the leader Dimi Petratos, who recorded only two more.
Unfortunately, much of season two was disrupted by injury, and Josh was only able to add three games to his tally.
Ahead of the Club’s third season, Josh was named as vice-captain and returned to fitness to have a brilliant campaign.
An injury late in the season threatened to put him out of the Finals Series, but a superb comeback saw Risdon take the captain’s armband in all four post-season matches, where he fought through a knock in the Grand Final to get his hands on the Championship trophy for the first time.
