Luka Coveny had been a standout in the Western United Academy and signed his first professional contract with the first team in 2024 on the back of his exceptional performances.

A towering centre-back, Coveny represented Australia at Under-17 level before lining up for New Zealand in various youth internationals. Coveny’s exploits with the Junior All Whites includes a stunning campaign at the OFC U-19 Boys’ Championship, where he won Player of the Tournament and captained his side to the title, as well as a feature at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2023.

The son of New Zealand icon Vaughan Coveny, Luka possess supreme athleticism and natural talent defensively and in possession, making him one to watch as he continues to develop at Ironbark Fields with Western United.
