Rhys Bozinovski has capped off a superb week in his career by earning a call up to the upcoming Young Socceroos Talent Identification Camp.

After making his first senior start for the Green and Black in Wednesday night’s Australia Cup win over Melbourne Victory, Bozinovski will now go into a national team camp for the first time.

The 18-year-old will join 29 other young players from across the country for a three-day training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, from Monday August 8 to Thursday August 11.

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said this represented a proud moment for the Club and the Academy program.

“We’re very proud as a Club to see Rhys receive this recognition with the Young Socceroos. He has worked incredibly hard on his game and is deserving of this call-up,” he said.

“This is another indication of the success of our Academy and our vision to provide opportunities to talented young players to develop their football.

“We wish Rhys the very best for this training camp and hope it may lead to further national team selections.”

Alongside Bozinovski, Western United Academy stars Jake Najdovski, Jordan Lauton and Charbel Shamoon were part of an extended 56-man shortlist for the group.

Bozinovski broke through into the Western United first-team last season, signing his first professional contract at the beginning of the campaign after a standout year in NPL 3.

After a couple of injuries throughout the season, Bozinovski had to wait until the final game of the regular season to make his Isuzu UTE A-League Men debut against Adelaide United.

From there, Bozinovski featured three times in the Finals Series, including in the Grand Final, before making his maiden start earlier this week.

United’s No.42 will hope to impress newly appointed Young Socceroos coach Trevor Morgan before returning to United to push himself further into John Aloisi’s plans ahead of the new season.
