Western United has added further flair to its attack by completing the signing of Olyroo Ramy Najjarine from Western Sydney Wanderers.
The 22-year-old winger has caught the eye throughout his career to date and will now add excitement into Western United’s side in the final third, signing a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Najjarine’s dribbling ability matched with outstanding agility and blistering pace make him one of the most eye-catching attackers in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men.
Upon his arrival in the West, Najjarine said he is buoyed by the prospect of pulling on the Green and Black and is eager to show what he can do.
“I am very excited to join Western United and I look forward to meeting everyone,” he said.
“I’ve got high motivation to bring something different to the team and to help continue with the ongoing success of the Club.”
Western United Head Coach John Aloisi admitted he had been keeping tabs on Najjarine for some time and said he is thrilled to be working with him.
“Ramy is someone I have watched for a long time throughout his career and someone that I have always been excited by,” he said.
“His ability on the ball is up there with the best in the league and his mix of skill, pace and creative thinking will make him a fantastic addition into our side.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how he fits in with our group and how he can help us strive to achieve our goals this season and beyond.”
Najjarine has been earmarked for success ever since he began shining for Melbourne City’s academy sides, ultimately playing 22 senior matches including a cameo off the bench in the 2020 Grand Final.
The flashy attacker has since flourished in first-team roles at Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney, totalling 70 appearances in the competition to date.
Najjarine’s showings at club level have seen him represent Australia on numerous occasions for the Olyroos with whom he went to the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
The young star comes straight into Western United’s squad and becomes the Club’s third signing on transfer deadline day with Michael Ruhs and Connor O’Toole also joining the Green and Black.
