Western United will play a further five matches across the month of February as the A-Leagues announce a Feb Frenzy of football.
After a several match postponements across the season in both the A-League Men and A-League Women competitions, some 60 matches will take place over the 28-day month.
As well as the onslaught of matches, Australian Professional Leagues is bringing all adult general admission tickets to $20, allowing more people to enjoy A-Leagues football across the country.
United already opened February with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Macarthur FC and will have a very New South Wales-focused month ahead.
John Aloisi and his players have stayed across the border this week to prepare for a meeting with Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday February 5, with the Green and Black hoping to solidify its position at the top of the table.
United will be back in New South Wales the following week to take on Sydney FC on February 12 at Jubilee Stadium, the first meeting between United and last season’s runners-up.
Western United’s two home games in the Feb Frenzy will come in quick succession and will pair the Green and Black with the two Sydney sides once again.
The Wanderers will come to Melbourne on Sunday February 20 and Sydney will follow suit on Wednesday February 23, with the United fans getting two more opportunities to drive the side to victory at AAMI Park.
The Club will partner with Foodbank Victoria for a special “Food Relief” match for the February 20 fixture to help raise money and awareness for the fantastic work the organisation does to fight hunger, particularly for communities in the West.
United will close the month with an away fixture against Perth Glory, though the venue is still to be determined as the Western Australian border remains closed.
The busy month will take Western United beyond the halfway point of the season and will lead into a busy final two months of the campaign, which include visits to Ballarat and Tasmania.
The top end of the Isuzu UTE A-League Men table is being closely fought in the season’s opening stages, with just three points currently separating the entire top six as Western United leads the pack.
The Feb Frenzy will see the ladder take shape heading into the run to the finals, with plenty of opportunities for Aloisi’s side to pick up valuable points.
