Western United ready for jam-packed Macca’s Festival of Football

Western United Macca's Festival of Football

The Macca’s Festival of Football is back in 2022 Western United is ready to put on a spectacular weekend of family fun and football action, with the help of Macca’s and Football Tasmania.

Not only will United be bringing two huge Isuzu UTE A-League Men matches to UTAS Stadium as it continues its charge towards the top of the table, but there will be many more fun activities and events planned to paint Launceston in Green and Black and make it the perfect Easter weekend.

The Festival will kick off on Saturday April 16 with Hobart United set to take on Launceston City in the Round of 16 of the Lakoseljac Cup at UTAS Stadium.

That match will kick off at 1pm and act as a curtain raiser for Western United’s first match of the Festival, with John Aloisi’s side meeting Perth Glory at 5:05pm where the players will walk out to a special firework show around the stadium.

Western United faced Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix in Tasmania last year, picking up four points from six on offer.

Inside Gate 1 at UTAS Stadium will be a host of family fun activations to take part in pre-match, including face-painting, roving entertainment and live music, mini matches, table tennis, giveaways and plenty more.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Football Tasmania will be running a gala day at Churchill Park with a number of junior teams coming together for a day of football, with Western United players set to make an appearance and be involved in facilitating the matches.

After all the Easter chocolates have been tracked down around the house, Easter Sunday will be highlighted by a 10am training session at St. Patrick’s College which will be open to the public, inviting fans to meet all of their Western United heroes for some pictures and autographs after the session. A second open training session, this time at UTAS Stadium, will take place from 4-5pm on Monday April 18.
