On Thursday 22 August, Caroline Springs George Cross FC hosted a friendly match between Georgies and our A-League Men squad to celebrate, to the day, the fifth anniversary of Western United’s first ever match.
The venue was a buzz with football fans young and old, having a yarn, a BBQ cevapi and for the little fans, meeting their football heroes for a selfie and an autograph. Many fans were donning the red, white, green and black merch combo, which after five years in partnership together was amazing to see – a great display of how we are building our football family in the west together at all levels of the sport we love.
Caroline Springs George Cross FC has played a significant part in our history and growth as a club, and we are humbled to be part of the Georgies community. From everyone at Western United, we say thank you to Georgies staff, players and families.
On the pitch, the result went the way of Georgies (2-1) but was viewed by our coaching staff as a good hit out for the squad, with most available players getting minutes across the two halves. The match featured many of our younger players from the WUFC Academy which is important at this stage of the pre-season campaign.
The squad was back on the pitch at Ironbark this morning, continuing their training as we edge closer to the commencement of the 2024/25 A-Leagues season.
Make sure you show your support and be part of our first full season in Tarneit by signing on as a Western United member.
