Ballarat wakes up Green and Black with Western United scarf drop

Western United Ballarat

Ballarat has woken up Green and Black on Thursday morning as Western United scarves with a special gift attached were scattered all over town.

A total of 100 scarves were placed around the city, paired with special notes and free tickets to Saturday’s match.

Ballarat businesses have gotten on board the exciting surprise gesture, with the scarves and tickets found at local McDonalds stores, 61 Design and Haymes Paint.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney urged local residents to get behind the sea of reen and Black at Mars Stadium this weekend.

“Western United is not only our adopted A-League soccer team – we want them to feel like Mars Stadium is their Ballarat fortress with the local community right behind them waving their green and black scarves in the air,” Cr Moloney said.

“Having an A-League game at Mars Stadium – which includes the current ladder leaders in Western United – is yet another big coup for Ballarat’s flagship stadium and the elite sporting events it can host as our post-pandemic sporting recovery continues to gain massive momentum.”

Supporters will have the opportunity to watch United play in Ballarat for the first time since May 2021, with the squad returning home to Ballarat for a blockbuster Isuzu UTE A-League Men clash against Newcastle Jets on Saturday.

There will be plenty of other exciting giveaways, McDonald’s vouchers and a great offer with Haymes Paint as well as activities around the ground on the match day, with face painting, roaming performers and competitions to make it a spectacular day out at the football.

Secure your tickets now and make it a weekend out in Ballarat with Western United, with plenty of entertainment on show.
