Western United’s in-form striker says Whitten Oval in Footscray will bring even more new fans to the club this Sunday.

The Green and Black face Adelaide United in a tasty Hyundai A-League clash this Australia Day.

It’s the first time A-League football has been played at the famous Footscray venue, located in Melbourne’s inner west.

And with the Reds just below United on the ladder, there’s much to play for.

Adding to the intrigue is the legend’s looming milestone, with Berisha set to play his 200th A-League game at the spiritual home of the Western Dogs.

“It’s really important to also play in the inner west,” Berisha told www.wufc.com.au

“We are a club from the West and a lot of supporters are living around here. And they sometimes don’t have a chance to go to Geelong or Ballarat where we also play.

“It’s a little bit closer for those fans.

“Hopefully they can come here and see a special atmosphere. And hopefully, we can have more of these moments with our supporters.

“It’s special here. The first time A-League is here to play at Western Bulldogs.”

United is coming off a resounding 3-0 win over Central Coast last weekend, with the Green and Black rested and flying following the bye.

The Reds for their part defeated Victory 1-0 in the Original Rivalry clash at Hindmarsh.

And with the ladder situation before this weekend’s round makes this one a top-six cracker.

Adelaide in sixth on 18 points, United on 20 points in fifth.

Berisha knows how important this game will be to both clubs.

“A really crucial game, it’s never easy against Adelaide. You can see they are improving all the time but each game is important for us as we build up our great culture to become a successful football club.

“It’ll be special as well having a lot of supporters here at Whitten Oval. On a big day, Australia Day, which is really special,” Berisha added.
