All is set for the opening day of the new season with United taking on Melbourne City in a Grand Final rematch, and players all across the country have been finalising their teams for Round 1.

With team news announcements returning to the team, fantasy players have been given a helping hand in knowing who is in contention to play for each Isuzu UTE A-League Men squad in any given round.

The A-Leagues Fantasy game gives fans the chance to choose a squad of 15 real life players – two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three attackers – who will earn points in the game based on their performances on the pitch each round.

Points are on offer for decisive actions including goals and assists, as well as more general contributions to a match including tackles, shots on target and clearances.

A number of Western United players could be major scorers in the game, particularly in defence based on United’s staunch rearguard last season.

Ben Garuccio and Josh Risdon are both in the top 10 most expensive players in the game, while Leo Lacroix is another premium option and Jamie Young comes in as the dearest goalkeeper.

There are also a number of budget options in Green and Black including Dylan Wenzel-Halls and Lachie Wales, while new signing James Troisi also offers good value in midfield.
