Masks return in stadia for major sporting events

In line with changes to Victorian Government health and safety guidelines, masks will once again be made mandatory for patrons attending major events.

A-League Men fixtures will fall under that category, meaning fans will need to wear masks at matches from this weekend, beginning with Western United’s Boxing Day clash against Melbourne Victory.

Other guidelines remain unchanged, so all patrons aged 18 and over will still need to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, while younger fans do not need to do so.

The mask mandate means approved face coverings must be worn at all times on the concourse when travelling to the bathroom or purchasing food and beverages, but they will not be compulsory when sitting in the arena watching the match.

As the pandemic continues to have an impact on the lives of everyone, Western United encourages all of its supporters and the wider football community to be mindful of their own health and safety and that of others around them.

Heading into a busy Christmas time, the Club wishes for everyone to be able to safely enjoy watching the team play on matchdays, and sends all members and supporters its best wishes.
