Western United young gun Noah Botic has been recognised for his fine form with a call-up to the Olyroos side for an upcoming camp in Italy.

Botic will join his teammates for a week in Milan where the team will face the Switzerland Under 21’s and professional outfit Como 1907, whose squad boasts the likes of iconic Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas and former Italian international Patrick Cutrone.

This marks the 21-year-old’s second call up at Under 23’s level with his first coming in October 2021, just months after he joined Western United.

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said he was delighted to see Botic be rewarded for his efforts.

“Noah has been working hard and playing and training at a high level and we are delighted to see him earn this recognition with the Olyroos,” he said.

“We believe that this opportunity is well deserved and has come as a result of Noah’s application and dedication to his development both on and off the pitch.

“We wish to congratulate Noah on this opportunity and hope to continue to provide him and the broader Western United playing staff with similar opportunities in the future.”

Botic is no stranger to success in youth national team football having made his name with the Joeys at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2019.

A 17-year-old at the time, Botic shone for the Green and Gold with four goals across the three group stage matches, seeing Australia into the knockout stages of the tournament.

The striker went on to impress throughout a two-year spell in the youth team at German Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim before joining Western United ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The No.38 has taken major steps in his senior career in 2023, making his first Isuzu UTE A-League Men start in January before adding another five starts to date.

Botic netted his first senior professional goal against Adelaide United last month and has scored three in his last two matches, including a brace against Newcastle Jets.

Botic will travel to Milan following United’s meeting with Brisbane Roar and return in time for the following match against Sydney FC, leading into the final portion of the Isuzu UTE A-League regular season.
