Western United Cup Ballarat

Registrations are now open for the Western United Cup, a girls and women’s football competition set to take place in Ballarat from Thursday September 29 to Saturday October 1.

The tournament was announced by Western United in early April, and clubs are now able to register their teams to compete in this showcase of women’s football.

Western United has worked closely with the Victorian State Government and the City of Ballarat who have both offered immense support to ensure this event can take place.

The entire tournament will take place at Ballarat’s Regional Soccer Facility at Morshead Park, meaning this is a true showcase of football in the region with the best facilities in place and the best female talents participating.

The competition is open to age groups from Under 10’s to Under 18’s as well as an open age group and will be set up in a round robin format with finals afterwards.

All teams will play at least four matches across the weekend, with a maximum of up to six matches for teams if they reach the final of the tournament in their age group.

Winners in each category will receive a trophy and gold medals, while runners-up will receive silver medals in recognition of their efforts.

This extends Western United’s commitment to being present in the Ballarat region and growing the game of football in that area after a strong two-year partnership to date.

United has played games at Mars Stadium in each of its three seasons so far, and even held an official game at Morshead Park in April.

With Western United’s A-League Women team set to take to the pitch for the first time in the upcoming 2022/23 season, the Club is eager to continue to open up pathways to allow young women and girls to be engaged with football in the community.

Western United Cup partner Australian Football Skool will assist in delivering field of play elements over the course of the three days.
