Rhys Bozinovski has continued to earn recognition for his rapid development with a call-up to the Young Socceroos squad for an upcoming trip to Spain.

The 18-year-old was called up to the squad for the first time for a three-day Talent Identification Camp in early August and has been rewarded with another selection.

The Young Socceroos will head to Alicante for the Four Continents Tournament where it will play three matches in just under a week.

Bozinovski will join his teammates and coach Trevor Morgan for a week of training ahead of the opening match against Morocco on September 22, before additional games against Chile and England.

Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said successive call-ups was worthy recognition of Bozinovski’s continued development.

“On the back of his initial call-up to the Young Socceroos last month, we are delighted that Rhys now has an opportunity to take part in a series of matches with the team,” he said.

“Rhys has achieved a lot in a short amount of time in his career and it is a testament to his maturity and work ethic that he continues to enhance his development.

“We wish Rhys all the very best in Spain and look forward to seeing him wearing the Green and Gold.”

Bozinovski rose quickly through Western United’s Academy in 2021, beginning with the Under 21’s side before transitioning into the Under 23’s and signing his first scholarship contract within a matter of months.

Bozinovski made his Isuzu UTE A-League Men debut in Western United’s final 2021/22 regular season match against Adelaide United at the beginning of May.

Following his debut, Bozinovski made a further three appearances in the Finals Series, including in the Grand Final against Melbourne City, and has been ever-present in pre-season with the senior side.

The No.42 earned his first senior start in the Australia Cup Round of 32 against Melbourne Victory and backed that up with 120 minutes against Sydney United in the Round of 16, with impressive displays in both matches.

Everyone at Western United wishes him the best of luck in Spain and looks forward to seeing him in action in the Green and Gold before returning to the Club for the upcoming A-League Men campaign.
