Western United is delighted that Sebastian Pasquali has put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him remain in Green and Black for the 2022/23 A-League Men season.
The 22-year-old has been at the Club since its inception in 2019 and is eager to get back on the pitch in the upcoming season.
“I’m really happy to have re-signed with the Club for another year and continue to represent a Club I have been lucky enough to be a part of from the start,” he said.
“I want to pay back my Club for their time, effort and support in me over the past two years which have been tough; filled with injuries. I also want to prove to the supporters and the Club that I’m capable of getting back to playing at the level I know I can.
“I was super proud of my teammates and coaches in what we achieved last year, proving many people wrong and more important – ourselves right. It was a great experience being a part of that and it definitely whets my appetite to be out there this year, working towards the same result and being even better.”
Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said Pasquali’s signature was an important one to retain ahead of the new campaign.
“Sebastian is a foundation player of our club and a great young Australian talent. We look forward to working with Seb for another season in the Green and Black,” he said.
Pasquali made his debut in the A-League Men when he was only 17 years old before securing a move to one of the best football academies in the world at Dutch powerhouse Ajax.
The midfielder spent two years in Amsterdam, winning the Dutch Second Division title with Jong Ajax in 2018 before returning to the A-League Men to join Western United in its inaugural season.
He played nine times across the 2019/20 campaign, including in both Finals matches, before adding another six games in season two.
An operation in pre-season kept Pasquali on the sidelines for the entirety of United’s Championship run in 2021/22, but still at just 22 years of age he will have his sights set on playing an important role in John Aloisi’s midfield this season.
Pasquali joins Ben Collins and Nikolai Topor-Stanley in extending his contract ahead of the return to pre-season training in early July.
