Western United ALW clash against Newcastle Jets postponed

Western United A-League Women

Western United’s Liberty A-League Women meeting with Newcastle Jets on Wednesday December 28 has been postponed due to an extreme heat forecast in Victoria.

The APL Heat Policy states that if the ambient temperature approaches 40°C and/or the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) exceeds 28°C, then matches should be delayed or postponed.

The match will be rescheduled for a later date, meaning Western United’s next fixture in the Liberty A-League will be an away trip to face Perth Glory on New Year’s Day.

United’s women’s side has had a dream start to life in the Liberty A-League, winning each of the first four matches including two triumphs over local rivals Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.

The side has come together under Head Coach Mark Torcaso and will now set its sights towards the Glory meeting before a return home to City Vista Pavilion and Sports Field on January 7 against Wellington Phoenix.

The Club regrets that its fans will have to wait until then for a Liberty A-League home match, having not had one since Round 1 on November 19.

The Green and Black family looks forward to coming together at City Vista again and getting behind the team in 15 days’ time.
