Western United ALW Team News: Round 13 vs Adelaide United

Kat Smith Western United

Kat Smith has again named an unchanged 18-player extended squad for Western United’s Liberty A-League Women Round 13 clash against Adelaide United.

This will mark the first repeat opponent of Smith’s tenure since her United debut came against the Reds in December.

The Taranto twins took over on that day with Melissa assisting Adriana for two goals, and the pair will be hoping to headline another positive performance.

Hannah Keane also found the net in that 3-1 victory and she is continuing to increase her fitness after returning to action off the bench against Sydney FC last week.

The American No.9 will be eager to return to the starting XI, though Keiwa Hieda will continue to compete for a place after two straight starts on the left wing.

After reaching impressive milestones over the last few weeks, Chloe Logarzo, Grace Maher and Adriana Taranto will be able to celebrate in front of a home crowd in Victoria for the first time.

Those three have arguably been United’s best over the course of the season and will be out to guide the team to another win on Sunday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Smith hinted at the upcoming availability of Kahli Johnson and Catherine Zimmerman, giving her plenty of selection headaches to deal with in United’s front third.

Johnson is yet to play under Smith after picking up a leg injury on international duty late last year, while Zimmerman is awaiting her Western United debut after joining from Melbourne Victory in the off-season.
