Western United – Dare to Dream for Finals 22-23

Western United Dare to Dream Finals

Western United will Dare to Dream ahead the Club’s inaugural Liberty A-League Women Finals Series.

The dream began all the way back on Saturday 19 November when United played its first ever match in the competition, securing a memorable 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory.

Now almost exactly five months on, the dream continues for the Green and Black ahead of a mammoth semi-final clash against Sydney FC.

That season opener set the tone for Western United’s success in the competition, with Mark Torcaso’s side going on to reach second place and finish just one point shy of Sydney at the top of the league.

Seventeen games later, United conquered everything in sight in the Liberty A-League, defeating each opponent at least once and piling in 38 goals across the season.

Hannah Keane contributed 13 of those goals herself on her way to making more history for the Green and Black, becoming the first Western United player to win a Golden Boot.

American superstar Jessica McDonald led the way at the start of the season alongside Matildas ace Chloe Logarzo who has returned to spur the team on towards further glory.

In her first opportunity for professional minutes, Hillary Beall has emerged as one of the league’s best goalkeepers with Sydney Cummings and Alana Cerne commanding the defence in front of her.

Cerne, Kahli Johnson, Jaclyn Sawicki and Tyla Jay Vlajnic have all been selected for international camps based on their performances throughout the campaign and continue to set examples for young girls in the West that their football dreams are possible.

Late comebacks, tenacity and an unwillingness to ever be beaten without a fight have been the hallmarks of this team, one that is now ready to write another chapter in an already remarkable story.

All along the way, the Western United faithful has been behind the team in the stands with the Western Core and the entire fanbase bringing the noise and inspiration at every home match.

Now, that all leads up to the next month of football in the Liberty A-League. Western United has already created history, but there is still more to try and write.

Dreams only begin once, and this Western United dream is yet to end. Dare to Dream, Finals 2022/23.
