Western United is primed for its biggest Isuzu UTE A-League Men season yet with the coaching staff and playing squad locked in for the 2024/25 campaign.
The Green and Black has now well and truly arrived at home at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit, bringing the West to life through football and community engagement.
With all in readiness for the season opener against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday afternoon, John Aloisi and his side will build into the season with enthusiasm and confidence.
Aloisi will be supported on the touchline by Diogo Ferreira who will step into a full-time assistant coach position going forward.
Andrew Durante will also remain in place as an assistant coach alongside his club-wide role of Player Development & Welfare Manager, and Michael Theo will continue in his position as goalkeeper coach.
This season, the entire high-performance team is filled with young professionals who have developed from the Western United Academy with Massimo Murdocca, Daniel Hanna, Louis Mazza and Ethan Timmins leading the way.
On the pitch, Western United fans will be treated to an electric playing squad that will play front-footed, dynamic attacking football, led by new captain Ben Garuccio.
Hiroshi Ibusuki has joined the squad and will bring goals up front while Tate Russell’s addition at right-back will add energy in attack and solidity in defence.
This off-season, eight young stars signed their first professional contracts directly out of the Western United Academy and will be ready to explode to life in Tarneit.
Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato is eagerly anticipating the first whistle, encouraging everyone in the West to get behind the team.
“After a fantastic pre-season period, the squad is ready to go and we can’t wait to represent our community in the West throughout this season,” he said.
“Our football department is filled with young professionals and fantastic people to lead an exciting and dynamic squad of players this season.
“We can’t wait to be in front of our fans at Ironbark Fields this season, playing attacking football for our community to enjoy and I encourage everyone to get behind our squad this season.”
