Lachie Wales signed for Western United ahead of the club’s second season having made over 60 appearances with Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City.

An Australian Under 23 representative, Wales was in the starting line-up for the first game of the season and played 24 times, scoring four goals and laying three assists for his teammates.

Lachie won the club’s Goal of the Season award for a beautiful finish against Wellington Phoenix in Round 18 and went to the Olympic Games in Tokyo with the Olyroos, where he scored a memorable goal in a win against Argentina.

Wales followed that up with a stellar 2021/22 season, scoring his first career hat-trick against Perth Glory before scoring one of the Club’s biggest ever goals to put the side in front in its semi-final tie against Melbourne Victory.

Wales featured in every single match throughout the regular season and Finals and was a vital part of the team as United went on to become A-League Men Champions for the first time.
