First home game for 42 days

Western United will finally play in front of its home fans for the first time in over a month as John Aloisi’s side returns to AAMI Park.

With United searching for a first win at home this season, the team will be eager to put on a show for the supporters and secure a vital three points.

The first of a string of home games in quick succession to round of 2022 and welcome in 2023, this clash will create fireworks on the pitch as United takes on the in-form Wanderers.

Match Preview

Diamanti, Garuccio and Imai return

Aloisi will welcome back three key players for this fixture with Alessandro Diamanti, Ben Garuccio and Tomoki Imai returning from illness.

Imai has not played since Round 1 while Garuccio had played every minute of the season until last week, and Diamanti will be hoping to continue to increase his workload on the pitch.

Aleksandar Prijovic played 90 minutes last week and keep building on his sharpness, while Tongo Doumbia could be in line for more involvement after making his return from a hamstring injury.
