Western United ALW Team News: Round 20 vs Newcastle Jets

Kat Smith Western United A-League Women

Western United Liberty A-League Women Head Coach Kat Smith has named her extended squad for the Green and Black’s historic Tarneit opener on Sunday.

The side is set to play the first ever match at the Wyndham Regional Football Facility, Western United’s new home, against Newcastle Jets on Sunday.

For such a momentous occasion, there is some devastating team news with Adriana Taranto and Chloe Logarzo both set to miss this clash.

Western United announced earlier on Friday that Taranto had ruptured her ACL during the week, while Lograzo will be sidelined for an extended period with a hip injury.

Kiara De Domizio, Lucy Richards and Natasha Dakic will all be aiming to force their way into the 16-player squad on matchday.

In Taranto’s absence, Catherine Zimmerman could be eying a first start for Western United after she scored in the Green and Black’s defeat to Sydney FC last week.

Avaani Prakash impressed off the bench in that game and will be pushing for a maiden start in her professional career, as well.
