Western United is proud to recognise three of its players who have earned selection to the Australian U23 Men’s National team. Adisu Bayew, Noah Botic and Luke Duzel have formed part of a 21-man squad in Dubai for a training camp. Following that, the squad will travel to Tajikistan to face Indonesia in two qualification matches for next year’s AFC U23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan. Mal Impiombato, General Manager of Football said:
Western United has strengthened its connection to the west, partnering with Essendon Football Club in a landmark deal for the two elite sporting codes. The tenancy partnership will mean United’s administration staff and A-League team will move to the Essendon Hangar in Tullamarine, bringing the green and black staff under the one roof for the first time. Western United has added another high-profile international to its squad with the signing of Serbian international striker Aleksandar Prijovic on a multi-year deal. Swiss defender Leo Lacroix joined Western United on the park for the first after completing Australia’s 14-day hotel quarantine following his arrival into the country from Switzerland. Lacroix, who has played in the Champions League and Europa League, stands an impressive 197cm tall, or 6ft 6in. The 29-year-old speaks six languages and is settling well into life in Melbourne, accompanied by his young family. “I’m happy to be here to start training with the team. It was long between the transfer and the travel, but now I am happy to be here,” he said.

We are saddened to notify our community that we lost a beloved member of our Western United family, Neda Ivic. Neda succumbed to cancer far too young, and we wish to express our sadness and offer our condolences to Neda’s family at this sad time. A club is so much more than just the results on the weekend. It’s a community, a family, and we wanted to make mention of the part Neda played in our club. Many of our fans and members will remember Neda as that friendly, positive person working at the merch desk on game day with her daughter Mara.
Western United’s players will be boosted on the pitch thanks to a new partnership with TapeDesign Socks as the club’s preferred grip socks supplier. The partnership will see players wear TapeDesign Socks on matchday if they wish, as well as special training socks emblazoned with the Western United logo and the player’s initials.
The A-Leagues today announce the signing of Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) as the first naming rights partner of its men’s competition, which will be officially known as the ‘Isuzu UTE A-League Men’. The three-year partnership marks the latest milestone in the A-Leagues’ ambitious growth and commercial development strategy. Commencing with the upcoming season (2021-22), the partnership also includes naming rights of the A-League Men’s Finals Series and becoming the Official Automotive Partner of the A-Leagues’ Men, Women, Youth and E-Sports Leagues.
